NEW YORK — On the heels of a successful night game at Michigan Stadium last season, the NBC Sports Group has announced that when Notre Dame hosts the Wolverines Sept. 22, that game will also be under the lights.

It’s the first primetime game featuring Michigan in South Bend since 1990 and marks only the second primetime game the Irish have hosted at Notre Dame Stadium in 22 years, following last year’s game against USC.

Three of the eight primetime games in Notre Dame Stadium history have come against Michigan (1982, 1988 and 1990).

Continuing its off-site home game series, Notre Dame will host the Miami Hurricanes at Chicago’s Soldier Field Saturday, Oct. 6, at 7:30 p.m. It will mark the fourth straight year that NBC has broadcast a Notre Dame off-site home game in primetime.

Coverage of Notre Dame Football on NBC begins when the Fighting Irish host in-state rival Purdue Saturday, Sept. 8, at 3:30 p.m. The 2012 schedule also includes games against Stanford at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 13; BYU at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 20; Pittsburgh at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 3; and Wake Forest at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 17.

In addition to the fall schedule, the NBC Sports Network will televise the annual Blue-Gold Spring Game for the second consecutive year at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Apr. 21.
