Keselowski takes victory at home track

BROOKLYN — There’s no place like home for Brad Keselowski.

The current NASCAR Nationwide Series points leader and Rochester Hills native won the CARFAX 250 at Michigan International Speedway on Saturday in dominating fashion.

He grabbed the lead on a late-race restart with only eight laps to go, then pulled away to win the NASCAR Nationwide race at Michigan International Speedway on Saturday.
With his win in 2009, Keselowski became the first driver in MIS history to win back-to-back Nationwide Series races at MIS.

“This one was even harder,” Keselowski said of the win. “We lost our clutch and ruined the burnout.”

It was the fourth Nationwide victory of the season and 10th of his career for Keselowski, who holds a dominant lead in the series points standings.

Edwards took second by inches over Kyle Busch’s No. 18 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota. Justin Allgaier was fourth in a second Penske Dodge, while Edwards’ teammate Paul Menard was fifth.

Danica Patrick finished 27th in her first appearance at MIS since 2007.

It was the second race for NASCAR’s new Nationwide car, which made its debut at Daytona in July.

Keselowski dominated the first half of the race, but his clutch started to give near the race’s halfway point, causing him to lose the lead.

Keselowski spent much of the race going side-to-side with his on-track rival, Edwards.

Both drivers are on probation for an on-track incident at Gateway International Raceway in July.
