Oak Manor principal resigns

Jim Knoll, principal of Oak Manor Sixth Grade Center in Niles, resigned Friday for personal reasons, according to John Tanke, director of human resources at Niles Community Schools.

Longtime NCS employee Molly Brawley has been named the new Oak Manor principal. Brawley was most recently an assistant principal at Ring Lardner Middle School.

Knoll began with NCS as a high school teacher in 1995 before leaving to work at another district in 2002. Knoll returned to NCS as an assistant principal at Ring Lardner in 2004 before becoming the high school principal in the 2005-06 school year. He remained high school principal until being named principal at Oak Manor at the beginning of the current school year.

Brawley has worked for Niles Community Schools for nearly 30 years with most of her time at the high school where she taught English for 15 years and was assistant principal for 11 years. She became assistant principal at Ring Lardner a year and a half ago.

In a letter to Oak Manor families, Brawley said she is honored to be working with the Oak Manor students and can’t wait to get to know them.
