The speeds may be a little different than what you would normally find at Michigan International Speedway Saturday.

But the desire to win won’t be any less.

The Michigan High School Athletic Association Lower Peninsula Cross Country Finals return to MIS Saturday beginning with the girls Division 4 race at 10 a.m.

The Division 3 girls race will follow at 10:30 with the Division 4 boys race scheduled to start at 11 a.m. The Division 3 boys race will wrap up the morning session at 11:30 a.m.

Brandywine senior Michael Robbins will compete in the Division 3 race.

Robbins qualified for the state finals by finishing seventh overall at last weekend’s regional meet at Portage Middle School.

Robbins posted a time of 17:14 in qualifying for the state finals.

He will be joined in the race by the Bridgman squad, led by Lakeland Conference champion Cameron Bredice.

The afternoon races will begin at 1:30 with girls Division 2. The Division 1 girls race will follow at 2 p.m. and the afternoon will wrap up with the boys Division 2 and Division 1 races at 2:30 and 3 p.m. respectively.

Tickets are $7 per person and are available at the gate or through TicketLeap, which can be found at mhsaa.com. Parking is free.

The races will be streamed live on MHSAA.tv with a variety of camera angles — starting line, 1.5-mile mark, 2.25-mile mark and finish line. There will also be a camera set up for the awards ceremonies at noon and 3:30 p.m.
