Brandywine grabs 25-20 halftime lead

In the battle of unbeaten girls basketball teams, Brandywine owns a 25-20 halftime advantage on Mendon.

The Bobcats, ranked No. 2 in Class C, trailed 13-11 after one quarter of play, but it could have been worse.

The No. 7-ranked (Class D) Hornets grabbed an early 5-2 advantage on Brandywine.

But behind a pair of 3-pointers by Mackenzie Shelton, playing in her first game in almost a month, the Bobcats rallied to tie the game at 11-11.

Brandywine took control of the game in the second quarter as its pressure defense forced 10 first half turnovers by the Hornets.

Brandywine took care of the basketball in the first half committing just one turnover.
