Brandywine lunch prices increase

The Brandywine Community Schools Board of Education approved a 10-cent increase to breakfast and lunch prices effective for the 2012-13 school year.

The decision came by unanimous vote Monday at the Bell Education Center with Doris Schoenleber absent.

The 10-cent increase means breakfast will cost $1.40 for students and $1.80 for adults. Lunch will cost $2.25 for elementary students, $2.45 for students at the middle school and high school levels and $3.25 for adults. Milk will cost 50 cents across the board.

Supt. John Jarpe informed the school board the increase is necessary in order for the district to become compliant with federal regulations.

Brandywine was charging less for a meal than what it was worth, according to federal regulations.
