LIDS (Looking Inside Dowagiac Schools): Thanks for the continued support

Photo provided Dowagiac Middle School students take time to catch up on reading as the school year gets in full swing.

Wow! The 2012-2013 school year has kicked off to a great start here at Dowagiac Middle School.

We have seen more parent participation at both our new student orientation and open house than in years past! Picture parents running through the halls to find classes and open lockers; it was almost as if they were back in middle school! Thanks to this incredible support, our students were given the tools and confidence they needed to start the year off right. This boost in parent and student involvement particularly got our sixth-graders off to a great start. They weren’t lost in the halls and or stuck trying to open lockers; instead they were in classes on time and feeling confident and on-task.

We are excited to continue on our journey this year with parents and our community supporting the students here at DMS. Your support will help to ensure students are staying engaged, excelling in their studies and makinggood choices to better themselves on a daily basis. As the student body grows together this year, we will look for continued support of our staff, parents and community.

We have many sporting events, parent nights and even some student project nights coming up this fall. We hope to see each and every one of you attending these events. You do make the difference in the lives of our children.

Thank you for your continued support and for believing in our students here at Dowagiac Middle School.
