Lakeshore JGA Tour kicks off second season Monday

The Lakeshore Junior Golf Association Tour is preparing to kick off its second season.

The first stop on the tour will be Hampshire Country Club near Dowagiac Monday. Tee times begin at 7:30 p.m.

Through Friday, 85 boys and girls had already signed up for the tour. Players must be under the age of 19 to participate.

Among those who have already registered are several who will compete in the MHSAA state golf finals this weekend. There are also players from Illinois, Indiana and Ohio set to play.

Those who have not already signed up for the tour can do so at www.lakeshorejga.com or call tour organizer Barry Shanley at (269) 501-2676.

Among the courses the tour will make stops at this season are Hampshire, Orchard Hills Country Club between Niles and Buchanan, Indian Lake Hills near Eau Claire and Harbor Shores in Benton Harbor.

The championship tournament will be played July 22 and July 29 at Clearbrook Golf Club in Saugatuck and HawksHead Links in South Haven respectively.

With the very great support of our courses, we are able to offer seven affordable events on the very finest courses for each age group — 13-15 and 16-18,” Shanley said. “Our tour scores will be posted on the national Junior Golf Scoreboard for all college coaches to see, which obviously will help all the players who are working hard and dreaming of playing college golf.”

The cost for each event is $20.
