Robotics Camps

In the robotics camps, students work to solve challenges by building and programming robots using the Lego Mindstorms (NXT) Robotics Invention System. They build their own robot and learn computer programming to control it. Students will have a partner for some activities, and are expected to cooperate and share well. Each day includes structured lessons and activities to practice construction and programming skills. Students need to bring their own sack lunch and be motivated and mature enough to stay focused on activities. For students ages 9-14. Cost is $250.

Fabrication Camp

Students learn about digital fabrication, making both artistic and practical designs using laser cutting, vinyl cutting, 3D printing and CNC router technology. LMC Bertrand Crossing is proud to be one of only approximately 100 Fab Labs (short for Fabrication Laboratory) in the world who all believe that anyone can make almost anything. In addition to having fun, participants learn about mechanical and software design, problem solving and teamwork skills. Students will complete several projects and mini challenges. Students need to bring their own sack lunch, and be motivated and mature enough to stay focused on activities. For students ages 10-15. Cost is $250.

Elementary Lego WeDo Camp

Using Lego kits students use computer programming to make machines that move. Gears, levers, motors and machines of all kinds are discussed, all with step-by-step pictures. For students ages 7-8. Cost is $150.

Train the Trainer (for adults)

In this two-day seminar adult students receive hands-on experience with building and programming the Lego NXT robot, an introduction to other Lego curriculum, including Simple Machines and WeDo. Competition opportunities will also be introduced, specifically FIRST Lego League, FIRST Tech Challenge and VEX. Attendees will have enough information at the end of the seminar to find the tools they need to start their own program.

Lunch and snacks provided. Cost is $200.
