Junior Arts enjoys fashion show

The Junior Arts Club of Dowagiac held its annual fashion show Wednesday at Wood Fire.

The latest trends were on display Wednesday during a show at Wood Fire, featuring local retailer Marshall Shoppe Spring Fashion.
The Junior Arts Club of Dowagiac held its annual fashion show for members and guests, serving lunch beforehand. Marshall Shoppe, next door to the restaurant, provided clothing and accessories for the event. Five models of all ages and sizes took a stroll down the runway to showcase popular styles, ranging from casual wear, semi-formal and formal.
“This is something the club and others in the community look forward to,” Joyce Saunders, president of the club, said. “It’s always a lot of fun.”
Owner Sue Kazlauskas said this is the fourth year the Junior Arts Club asked to present the fashion show with her store’s designs – something she has enjoyed doing.
“I’ve always done it when I’ve been asked to,” Kazlauskas said.
Since new fashions often arrive for spring and summer months, the show came at just the right time.
“It’s a great time to have this,” Kazlauskas said. “We get a lot of new things in the store for the warmer seasons, and this is a good way to showcase the clothes.”
Another draw was that the models were all local women.
“It’s fun for the models just as much as it is for the audience since most of them know one another,” Kalauskas said.
The Junior Arts Club of Dowagiac focuses on “getting to know and value one another in the community.
