Buchanan takes two from Bobcats

BUCHANAN — In a key Lakeland Conference softball doubleheader, host Buchanan swept rival Brandywine 11-1 and 7-4.

In the opening contest, the Buck used a five-run second inning to break the game wide open.

Buchanan had 10 hits, including a 3-for-4 performance from Hannah Herman. Faith Bartley finished with two hits.

Hailee Kara was dominating in the circle as she tossed a two-hitter.

Julia Babcock had a double for the Bobcats.

Brook Brumitt started for Brandywine and suffered the loss.

In the nightcap, the Bucks scored two runs in the sixth to seal victory.

Buchanan had seven hits, led by Bartley, who was 2-for-3. Keegan May drove in a pair of run as she homered. Aspen Berry and Bailey Trail both added doubles.

Camille Lozmack earned the victory as she struck out four.

Brandywine had six hits, including a Kadence Brumitt home run. Addison Anglin and Julia Babcock both doubled for Brandywine.

Kadence Brumitt took the loss.
