Softball invitational venue changes for first two rounds

DOWAGIAC — There is a small change to the annual Chieftain Invitational Softball Tournament, which Dowagiac is hosting on Saturday.

Games are normally spread between several venues, but this year’s tournament will play the first couple rounds at Russom Field, with the championship game being the only one played at Dowagiac Union High School.

In the opening round, Dowagiac will face Cassopolis, while Watervliet will take on Hartford, Paw Paw will face Berrien Springs and Niles will take on Kalamazoo Central.

All games begin at 10 a.m.

Winners advance to the semifinals at noon, while the losing teams will square off in the consolation semifinals, also scheduled to begin at noon.

The championship game is scheduled for 2 p.m.

 

Baseball

The Chieftain Invitational at Dean Hagen Field will begin with Niles facing the Chieftains at 10 a.m.

Niles and Cassopolis will play at noon, while the Chieftains and Rangers will wrap up the day at 2 p.m.

 

Soccer

Niles and Dowagiac will kick off the Chieftain Invitational at 10 a.m. at the high school field.

The Vikings will then face Our Lady of the Lake at 11:30 a.m. and the Chieftains will face the Lakers at 1 p.m.
