Though not a typical autumn day, the weather was quite pleasant for Dowagiac’s third annual Under the Harvest Moon Festival this Saturday.
Vendors from all over the community lined the downtown area with booths, games, entertainment and more family fun.
“One-hundred-fifty children enjoyed painting pumpkins at the interactive workshop, sponsored for the third year by MKSOD,” said Vickie Phillipson, chair of the event.
Main attractions were the Autumn Marketplace of antiques from local shops and the Taste of Michigan wine and craft brew tasting, hosted by the Wounded Minnow Saloon.
Other activities included a corn hole tournament sponsored by the Wounded Minnow Saloon, an antique tractor show, horse-drawn hay rides and a pumpkin cook-off hosted by Beeson Street Bar and Grill.
Robin Tuka was the first-prize winner of the bake-off with a white chocolate pumpkin cheesecake. Sheila Mavingo was awarded second place for a pumpkin chili and Rachel McManus-Wagner received third place for her frosted pumpkin cookies.
Beeson Street Bar and Grill awarded $75 in prizes to the winners.
The Under the Harvest Moon Festival is hosted the second Saturday of October annually.
