Niles spikers go 3-2 at Gull Lake Invitational

RICHLAND — The Niles volleyball team went 3-2 at the Gull Lake Invitational on Friday.

Niles defeated Paw Paw (25-20, 25-18), Comstock (25-13, 25-9) and Battle Creek Lakeview (22-25, 25-2, 15-9) and lost to Delton-Kellogg (27-26, 25-11) and Portage Northern (25-20, 11-25, 15-8.

Kalmazoo Hackett Invitational
KALAMAZOO — Visiting Brandywine posted a 1-1-1 record in pool play at the Kalamazoo Hackett Invitational on Saturday.

The Bobcats lost to host Hackett 25-11 and 25-19 before splitting with Buchanan 22-25, 25-19 and defeating Marcellus 25-15 and 25-14.

In the first round of tournament action, Brandywine defeated Marcellus 25-14 and 25-14 before falling to Gobles 21-17 and 21-18.

The Edwardsburg varsity volleyball team lost once and tied once at the Kalamazoo Hackett Invitational on Saturday.

Gobles was the culprite in both cases.

The Eddies and Tigers split two games in pool play and then Gobles got the better of the Edwardsburg in tournament play, 21-14 and 21-14.

Meanwhile, Buchanan reached the semifinals of the tournament before being eliminated by Kalamazoo Christian in straight sets.
