Dowagiac man killed after striking utility pole

A single car accident on Topash Street in Silver Creek Township has left one man dead.

The Cass County Sheriff’s Office reports it responded to a single vehicle accident at 4 a.m. Sunday on Topash Street west of Leach Road.

Dustin W. Kuseske, 22, of Dowagiac, was traveling eastbound on Topash when he lost control of his vehicle, which then left the roadway crashing into a utility pole.

Kuseske was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. Keseske was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the accident and alcohol use is unknown.

Assisting at the scene were Sister Lakes Fire Department, Dowagiac Police Department, Pokagon Tribal Police and Pride Care Ambulance.

The accident remains under investigation.
