Berrien County woman dies in fire

The State Fire Marshall is investigating a deadly fire that occurred Thursday morning in Galien.

Helen G. Ott, 86, of Weesaw Township, died in the blaze.

According to a press release from the Michigan State Police, a house fire was reported at around 5:30 a.m. in the 1800 block of West Wager Road in Weesaw Township.

Weesaw Township firefighters extinguished the blaze and found a body inside the home.

Michigan State Police officers and the State Fire Marshall were called in to assist the investigation.

The cause of the fire is still undetermined at this time, and the home is a total loss.
