Alcohol factor in fatal Edwardsburg crash

Law enforcement personnel work the scene of a fatal crash Thursday in Edwardsburg.

Police say alcohol was a factor in a crash that killed a 29-year-old Edwardsburg man early Thanksgiving morning.

Caleb A. Marcin died when his vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree around 1:50 a.m. Thursday on Conrad Road south of May Street, according to Chief Kenneth Wray, of the Ontwa Township-Edwardsburg Police Department.

Officers are the scene said the vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed. A seatbelt was used and airbags were deployed. There were no passengers.

Units at the scene were the Edwardsburg Fire Department, Edwardsburg Area Ambulance and the Cass County Sheriff’s Office.

The crash is under investigation.
