Crash sends two to hospital

Dowagiac Police Department reports it handled a traffic accident on Thursday at 7:52 p.m. on Main Street, just west of North Lowe Street.
The traffic crash occurred after a Land Rover headed west on Main driven by a 24-year-old Dowagiac man lost control of his vehicle on the ice-covered roadway.
The Land Rover then went into the eastbound lane and was struck by a GMC Yukon driven by a 33-year-old Dowagiac woman.
Both the driver and the passenger of the Land Rover were transported to Borgess-Lee Memorial Hospital by Pride Care Ambulance.
The GMC Yukon contained four people, two of whom were treated at the scene by Pride Care. Alcohol was not a factor in the crash.
Dowagiac Police Department was also assisted at the scene by the Dowagiac Fire Department.
Police remind all to wear safety belts and drive with caution on the ice- and snow-covered roads.
