Watson teams with Robbins to win doubles title

Sue Watson and Brandywine’s Alyssa Robbins captured the women’s doubles championship with a 6-0 and 6-0 win over Isabelle Vasquez and Mackenzie Ruff Saturday.

 

Men’s doubles

Brad and Matt Miller captured the men’s doubles championship at the 40th annual Dowagiac City Tennis Tournament Saturday.

Team Miller defeated Dave Negron and Mike Urbanski in the opening round 6-2 and 6-1 to advance to the finals.

Larry Watson and Jim Darr, the two-time defending champions, advanced to the championship match with a 6-1 and 6-0 win over Dave Brogan and Mitch Warsco.

In the finals, Team Miller toppled Watson and Darr 6-3 and 6-2.

 

Mixed doubles

The mixed doubles tournament was rained out Sunday, but will be made up on Saturday with three teams competing in a round robin format.
