Niles teen dies in crash

A 19-year-old Niles woman is dead after a single vehicle accident Wednesday evening in Milton Township.

Dajauna Marie Davis was traveling north on Ironwood Road at a high rate of speed when she lost control of her vehicle and struck a tree south of Redfield Street at 9:15 p.m., according to the Cass County Sheriff’s Department.

After the crash, Davis had to be extricated from her vehicle. She was transported to South Bend Memorial where she was later pronounced deceased from her injuries.

The St. Joe County Indiana Sheriff’s Department, Clay Township Fire Department, Niles Township Fire Department and SMCAS Ambulance assisted deputies at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation.
