Camp Safe Kids at COA Monday

For the sixth year, the Council on Aging will present Camp Safe Kids, which is underwritten by the Cass County Sheriff’s Office, Dowagiac Public Safety Department and the Penn Township Fire Department.

The camp is free to children ages 9 to 11 and will take place from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday at the COA Lowe Center, 60525 Decatur Road.

Space is limited.
Each child attending will receive a free bike helmet, T-shirt and meals. The daylong camp will teach kids about first aid, Internet safety and abduction prevention.

One of the topics covered will be first aid. They also will learn about water/boat safety and traffic/bike safety, as well as smokehouse and fire safety.
A special attraction will be a canine unit demonstration. The day will culminate with a hot line demonstration from Midwest Energy.
Children who want to participate will need to be driven to and from the COA. Stop by COA Lowe Center or call 445-8110 or (800) 323-0390 to get an application for admission.
