Three firefighters certified

Dowagiac Fire Department firefighters James Keys and Shaun Sirk have gained their certification as Surface Ice Rescue Technicians.

Firefighters Keys and Sirk attended the 12 hours of classroom and practical training at the Edwardsburg Fire Department this past February.

In more training news announced Wednesday, Firefighter Tony Stewart completed requirements as set forth by the Michigan Firefighters Training Council to receive Fire Officer 1 and 2.

Firefighter Stewart completed more than 200 hours of training and testing to gain the requisite knowledge to pass the exam.

Prior to taking this course of study, Firefighter Stewart completed the required 256-hour basic Fire Fighter 1 and 2 program offered by the Michigan Firefighter Training Council.

The Dowagiac Fire Department is proud to have Firefighters Keys, Sirk and Stewart as valued members of its organization.
