Plastic pistol permit available in Cass

CASSOPOLIS — A concealed pistol permit, made of hard plastic that will fit neatly into a wallet, is available from the Cass County Clerk’s Office.

The smaller, more durable permit, replaces the larger laminated paper card which the clerk’s office issued for many years.

A new digital process means applicants or existing permit holders need not produce a photo for copying onto the permit, according to Monica Kennedy, Cass County clerk.

Instead, the applicant or card holder is photographed at the clerk’s office, and either his or her photo as well as the signature are digitally applied.

For new applicants, there is a $105 charge for the application and a $10 charge for the photo service.

Existing card holders can exchange their old cards for new ones for the $10 photo and card fee.
