Weather to play role in sports schedule

With snow forecasted for the next two days, area athletic directors have postponed or canceled games and matches through Tuesday.

Wednesday’s forecast calls for sunny and dry conditions, but the predicted high is just 38 degrees.

So far the events canceled or postponed for Monday and Tuesday are:

There is a full slate of contests scheduled for Wednesday, including a tennis doubleheader for Brandywine against Kalamazoo Hackett (4 p.m.) and Eau Claire (5:45).

Brandywine is also scheduled for baseball and softball non-league doubleheaders against host River Valley, while the track team is set to host its Spring Break Relays.

The Niles tennis team is supposed to travel to Edwardsburg for a non-conference match, while the Vikings’ baseball team is scheduled to play at South Bend St. Joseph and the soccer team is slated to take on the host Eddies.

The Edwardsburg baseball and softball teams are supposed to open their seasons against Sturgis on Wednesday.

Cassopolis soccer, which has already had two matches postponed, is scheduled to host New Buffalo.

The Ranger baseball and softball teams are slated to open the home portion of their schedules Thursday against New Buffalo.
