JD’s Truck Stop evacuated for fire
A fire caused JD’s Truck Stop in Bertrand Township to be evacuated for a short time Tuesday afternoon.
At around 12:59 p.m., the Bertrand Township Fire Department got a call of a fire at the truck stop, 1655 Mayflower Road.
Fire Chief Bill Knisely said a truck stop employee had put out the fire by the time crews arrived.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation, but Knisely said it is possible a water heater ignited nearby insulation. He said the fire caused minimal damage.
