Niles natives and brothers Brad and Corey Harbaugh are returning to their hometown this weekend for a night of adult storytelling and wine at the Niles Elks Lodge.

The show is headlined by Brad’s wife, Julie Ganey, a Chicago actress and storyteller.

An Evening of Adult Storytelling and Wine begins at 7 p.m. Saturday at the lodge, 1322 Canal St., Niles. Doors open at 6 p.m.

Cost is $10 and includes an appetizer buffet. A flight of three wines that tie into the stories will also be available.

An Evening Of Adult Storytelling and Wine will feature three stories that celebrate the grit and pluck it takes to become they people we really are. From man on the run in his own hometown and a girl who’s lost her way in the big city, to a principal standing up to the powers-that-be — it promises to be an evening of humor and delight.

Brad and Corey are graduates of Niles High School. Brad graduated in 1990 and Corey 1987.

Brad lives in Chicago with his wife, Julie, and their daughter. Brad and Julie are both actors and writers. Corey is a teacher and writer living in Gobles.

Brad, whose love of performing was nurtured as a member of Niles High’s counterpoints, said he is excited to return to Niles for the one-night show.

“The older I get the more I realize how grateful I am for the ways in which Niles and the people there helped shape me both as an artist and a person,” he said. “Coming back and being able to share my craft and the work my wife does with the community that raised me is quite special.”

Brad said the event would be light, breezy and fun. Stories will be told at a relaxed pace with ample time for the audience to react and discuss each. Several wines will be available.

Julie Ganey has worked as a writer and actress in Chicago for 20 years, at such venues as the Goodman Theatre, Victory Gardens, Northlight, Chicago Dramatists, Shattered Globe, 16th Street Theatre and Drury Lane Theatre.

Her original solo shows, “The Half-Life of Magic” and “Love Thy Neighbor…till It Hurts,” have received multiple productions in the Chicago area.

She presented “Love Thy Neighbor…til It Hurts” at the Elks Lodge last year to benefit the Brian Parker Foundation.

To reserve tickets, contact the lodge at (269) 683-0133.
