Book sale to benefit Chapin Mansion

Fort St. Joseph Museum will sponsor a book sale for two weekends with proceeds going to the Chapin Mansion restoration fund.

The mansion serves as the Niles City Hall, but, late this summer, it will be vacated and restoration will begin to convert  the building into a house museum.

The book sale will be held June 8, 9, 10, 16 and 17, 2012 at 1303 Niles-Buchanan Rd., Niles.

The books are excess inventory of a local book dealer who has no room to move or store these books after the relocation of his new book shop to downtown Niles.

The books are old, used inventory accumulated since 1971.

There are 13,000 to 16,000 books in more than 30 categories.

• June 8: Preview Sale 5 to 8 p.m., $10 entry

• June 9-10: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; $2 hardbacks, 50 cents paperbacks, 25 cents magazines.

• June 16: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; $1 hardbacks, 50 cents paperbacks

• June 17: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.; 50 cents hardbacks, 25 cents paperbacks or $5 by the bag.
