DOWAGIAC — Becky Grabemeyer, CPA, recently joined Wolverine Mutual Insurance Company, in Dowagiac, as the controller. She is responsible for overseeing the regional insurance company’s accounting department.

Grabemeyer brings more than a decade of experience to the position including five years as finance director for the city of Dowagiac.

“Her breadth of accounting knowledge combined with her collaborative leadership skills are a great fit for our company,” said Wolverine Mutual President Jim Laing.

Before working for the city of Dowagiac, Grabemeyer served eight years at Accounting Consultants, P.C., in Dowagiac.

Grabemeyer grew up in Eau Claire, Michigan. She earned an associate degree from Southwestern Michigan College in Dowagiac and a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Colorado Technical University in Colorado Springs. She became a certified public accountant in 2011. Grabemeyer is active in the Young Professionals of Greater Dowagiac and currently serves as its chair. She resides in Dowagiac with her husband, Brian, and two children.

Wolverine Mutual Insurance Company is a multi-million-dollar insurer that provides automobile, homeowner, rental dwelling, motorcycle, watercraft, recreational vehicle and personal umbrella coverage. Its 40,000 policyholders are in Michigan, Indiana and Wisconsin.
