CASSOPOLIS — As Michigan businesses begin re-opening, Midwest Energy and Communications is re-opening lobbies to the public beginning Monday, June 8. Co-op officials closed lobbies on March 18 amid concerns about rapid spread of COVID-19, although business operations never ceased.

MEC implemented some additional safety precautions for the protection of customers and employees, including a protective shield around front counters. Customers choosing to visit should keep the following in mind:

  • Consider wearing a face covering, and disposable masks will be available. Customers needing to meet one-on-one with a MEC representative will be required to wear a face covering.
  • Practice appropriate social distancing by maintaining a six-foot distance between yourself and others.
  • Public restrooms are not available, and the Connected Home experience in Cassopolis remains closed.

Customers are encouraged to continue using alternative methods to conduct business, including calling the Customer Solutions Department at (800) 492-5989, emailing info@teammidwest.com, or engaging with the online Live Chat feature at teammidwest.com. Customers can also use SmartHub, the convenient one-stop shop for electric, propane and internet needs.

Many customers have been financially impacted by the pandemic, and those concerned about paying their bill are encouraged to call (800) 4920-5989 for assistance with a payment arrangement or connection to sources of financial assistance.

Officials ask that crews working in the field are left alone. Anyone that has a question about an outage or the nature of the work, please call (800) 492-5989. And if anyone sees a designated work zone or road closure, avoid the area.
