Wednesday, May 16

• Multiple times – Storytime day

Squealers (birth-18 months) at 9:30 a.m.; Squeakers (18 months-3 years) at 10 a.m.; Squigglers (18 months-5 years) at 10:30 a.m.; Storytime (kids ages 3+) at 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m..

• 4 to 7 p.m. — Coupon Exchange

The community is welcome to join Ann in the Youth Services area for a twice-a-month coupon exchange (first and third Wednesdays). People can bring the coupons they have that they won’t use and pick up some they will use. This program is open to teens and adults.

• 6 to 7 p.m. — Save a Life: Know the Signs of Depression and Suicide Risk

May is Mental Health Awareness Month and to help spread awareness, the library is welcoming Sandy Fowler from Dasium to discuss the signs of depression and suicide risk, and which steps people can take to help individuals in crisis. Knowing the signs of depression could save the life of a friend or loved one.

• 6:30 to 8 p.m. — Readers Circle Book Group

Led by Sally Ginter, Readers Circle members seek to have enlightening and thought-provoking conversations about books from a wide variety of genres. This is the perfect place for serious book lovers and new members are welcome. Books are available at the Information Desk.

• 7 to 8 p.m. — CDA Niles

Chemically Dependent Anonymous is a 12-step fellowship for anyone seeking freedom from drug and alcohol addiction. CDA do not make distinctions in the recovery process based on any particular substance. The basis of our program is abstinence from all mood-changing and mind-altering chemicals, including street-type drugs, alcohol, and unnecessary medication.

Thursday, May 17

• 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. — The Connection

As Berrien County’s Housing Resource Center, The Connection provides a centralized intake that works together with the consumer to rapidly re-house those who are homeless.

• 10 a.m. to noon — Special Edition: Looney Tunes Musical Masterpieces

This summer, the library will be watching movies every other Thursday. All ages and abilities are welcome to this sensory sensitive showing. The volume isn’t too loud, and there’s room at the back for those who prefer not to sit still. Popcorn will be hot, fresh, and waiting for participants.

• 10:30 and 1:30 p.m. — Storytime

Storytime features three books, a color song, and music and movement. The program will end with a hand stamp, coloring sheet and a craft.

• 1 to 4:30 p.m. — Mahjong

Volunteers are available weekly to teach you how to play Mahjong.

• 6 to 7:30 p.m. — Teen Time

Come and hang out. There are games, books, and a great place to study here in the new Teen Department. Snacks will be provided.

• 6:30 to 8 p.m. — Single Parenting Care

Single Parenting Care supports any single parent. Care Leaders have various skills to support everyone and understand what the world of single parenting is like. Come connect with others who care. Childcare provided. Please text or call (269) 605-7895 for more information.

Friday, May 18

• 9:30 a.m. to noon — TOPS

TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) is a nonprofit, noncommercial weight-loss support group and wellness education organization. TOPS offers tools and programs for healthy living and weight management, with exceptional group fellowship and recognition. Established in 1948 to champion weight-loss support and success, TOPS has helped millions of people live healthier lives. New members are welcome.

• 1 to 3 p.m. — Twisted Stitches

Community members are welcome to bring a yarn or sewing project and enjoy a hot beverage while they chat and work. Rookies are welcome. David, the teacher, is here to provide help and instructions. A few loaner tools to get you started if you need them.

Saturday, May 19

•10 a.m. to noon — Chess Club

Love to play chess?  This group meets twice monthly to play. The library welcomes all ages and abilities. Instructors can teach beginners. This takes place in the Children’s Department.

• 1 to 2:30 p.m. — Berrien County Honor Flight for Veterans

“Talons Out Honor Flight” is the southwest Michigan hub for the national Honor Flight Network. The mission of Talons Out is to fly World War II veterans from southwest Michigan, at no charge, to Washington, D.C. to visit the World War II Memorial.
