NILES — The Brandywine softball team continued its recent success with a sweep of visiting Comstock in BCS Athletic Conference action Tuesday.

The Bobcats (9-5) took the opening game 11-1 in five innings before winning the nightcap 16-0 in four innings.

Delani Nelson was the winning pitcher in both games.

In the first contest, Nelson allowed one run on two hits with a pair of strikeouts and walks.

She bettered that effort in the nightcap by tossing a no-hitter with a strikeout. Nelson is now 9-3 on the season.

Offensively, Brandywine finished the doubleheader with 29 hits.

Kennedy Byrd had a huge day at the plate as she homered in both games and drove in seven runs.

Nicole Sachman also had a big day with five hits, including a double and a triple.

Nelson had a pair of singles and a double in the nightcap, while Halie Ebersol had a pair of singles in the second game.

The Bobcats were back in action Thursday as they traveled to Dowagiac for a non-league doubleheader with the Chieftains.

Brandywine will also compete in the South Bend Clay tournament on Saturday before traveling to Buchanan to take on arch rival Bucks Tuesday.
