Abrams scored 17 as Brandywine opens season with win over Saugatuck

NILES — Jordan Abrams and Jaden Croom combined for 27 points as Brandywine held off Saugatuck 64-57 in the non-conference boys season opener for both teams Tuesday night.

Abrams led the Bobcats (1-0) with 17 points, while Croom added 10 points.

The Bobcats trailed Saugatuck 11-8 after one quarter, but outscored the visiting team 16-10 in the second quarter to take a 24-21 lead at halftime.

Brandywine led by 11 points, 45-34, heading into the final eight minutes, but had to hold off a four-quarter Indians rally.

Teague Tiemeyer led all scorers with 21 points for Saugatuck.

The Bobcats travel to Buchanan to face their arch rival in a key BCS Athletic Conference Red Division showdown Friday night.
