South Bend, Ind. — The Potawatomi Zoo celebrate Halloween will again wild style.  Zoo Boo is the Potawatomi Zoo’s annual safe trick-or-treating event complete with pumpkins, lights and decorations, candy, a haunted train ride and carousel rides.  This decades old tradition brings in more than 12,000 guests annually.  Guest should decked out in their Halloween costume and visit treat stations set up throughout the zoo.

The event will be taking place Oct. 20 from 6 to 9 p.m., Oct. 21 from 3 to 9 p.m., and Oct. 22 from noon to 4 p.m.  Last admission for Zoo Boo each day is 1/2 hour prior to closing.

The Potawatomi Zoo will not open until 6 p.m. on Oct. 20, 3 p.m. on Oct. 21, and noon on Oct. 22 for staff to prepare the day’s festivities.

Admission is $10 for adults, $8 for children (ages 3-14), and $8 for seniors 62+, 2 and under are free.  Zoo Boo is a free event for Potawatomi Zoological Society members. PZS members do not need tickets for this event; and are required to bring a valid membership card and photo IDs for all named members.

Zoo Boo is for kids of all ages — all three days; however, Sunday’s Little Zoo Boo is geared towards younger children since it is during the daylight and decorations may not seem as scary.

Train ride tickets are $2 per person — children 2 and under ride free. On Friday and Saturday, take a spooky ride on the Haunted Train.  On Sunday, the train ride will be merry, not scary, for all riders. Enchanted Carousel rides are $2 per seated rider.

Since the event is geared toward young children, adults may not wear masks that cover their faces. For the health and safety of the animals, most of the exhibits are closed after dark.  The best time to view animals is during  daytime hours on Saturday and Sunday.
