Athlete Showcase: Brandywine’s Nicole Sachman

Nicole Sachman is a sophomore on the Brandywine girls basketball team.
What has been one of your greatest accomplishments as an athlete?
NS: Winning districts my freshman year.
What has been one of your biggest disappointments as an athlete?
NS: Losing because I know I could have done better.
What has been a hardship in your life?
NS: When my dad broke his leg last year.
Who is a “hero” in your life and why?
NS: My parents, because they are always there for me and support me.
When are you the most nervous while you are competing?
NS: Right before the game starts.
Describe an embarrassing athletic moment.
NS: When you have a wide-open three and shoot an air ball.
How do you tend to work out/train when by yourself?
NS: I do not work out, but sometimes I go outside and shoot.
What other sport would you like to compete in if you were not playing yours?
NS: I would probably compete in tennis or track.
Why are sports an important part of a high school experience?
NS: It helps me make friends and become responsible.
If you could be the head coach of a team for a year, what team would you choose?
NS: A little league basketball team.
If I did not play sports, I would…?
NS: Sleep and watch Netflix.
What is the most challenging thing for you to do in your sport?
NS: The most challenging thing for me is to no foul.
If you could change one rule about your sport, what would it be?
NS: The number of fouls per game.
What is the best compliment you have ever received?
NS: People say I am hard-working.
What was the scariest thing you have had to do? Are you glad you did it?
NS: Getting my wisdom teeth out. Yes, I am glad I did it.
What was the last thing you saw someone do that really impressed you?
NS: When my brother graduated from college with an associates degree before graduating from high school.
What is your favorite hobby? Why?
NS: Watching television, because it helps me pass time.
