Dylan Layher is a senior on the Edwardsburg boys basketball team.
What has been one of your greatest accomplishments as an athlete?
DL: Winning a district championship for baseball.
What has been one of your biggest disappointments as an athlete?
DL: Losing regional championship for tennis.
What has been a hardship in your life?
DL: Coloring inside the lines.
Who is a “hero” in your life and why?
DL: My mom, because she is a better cook than Rachael Ray.
When are you the most nervous while you are competing?
DL: Right before tip off.
Describe an embarrassing athletic moment.
DL: I was playing third base when a grounder came my way and took a funny hop and nailed me right in the kid-maker.
How do you tend to work out/train when by yourself?
DL: I do not.
What other sport would you like to compete in if you were not playing yours?
DL: Swimming.
Why are sports an important part of a high school experience?
DL: They teach valuable life lessons such as teamwork, work ethic, and most importantly, be able to identify the weak link.
How would you give away $50,000?
DL: To a pet shelter.
If you could be the head coach of a team for a year, what team would you choose?
DL: The Victoria Maidens lingerie football team.
If I did not play sports, I would…?
DL: Be able to do homework, get to bed early and hang out with friends more often.
What is the most challenging thing for you to do in your sport?
DL: Dunking.
If you could change one rule about your sport, what would it be?
DL: A 4-point shot from half court.
What is the best compliment you have ever received?
DL: That I am deceptively fast.
What was the scariest thing you have had to do? Are you glad you did it?
DL: Go to school, and no.
What was the last thing you saw someone do that really impressed you?
DL: My dad bought a homeless man who was sitting outside the restaurant we were in a meal.
What is your favorite hobby? Why?
DL: Golf because it is relaxing.
