Niles edges Granger Christian

Niles opened the new year with a hard-fought 39-29 victory over Granger Christian at the Border Wars hosted by Brandywine Saturday.
The Vikings led just 10-9 after one and trailed 17-16 at halftime.
Niles made some halftime adjustments and outscored the Knights 23-12 in the second half to earn the victory.
“It was an ugly win,” Niles coach Phil D’Amico said. “Hats off to Granger Christian. They played hard.”
Jazmin Brann led the Vikings with 11 points, while Maya Brookins added 10 and Elyse Zimmerman eight.
Krista Kline scored a game-high 20 points for Granger Christian. Kylie Kline added 11.
Niles, which has won four of its last five games, is now 4-3 on the season.
