Bobcats remain undefeated after overtime win

BRIDGMAN — Visiting Brandywine outscored Bridgman 18-6 in overtime to remain undefeated with a 92-80 BCS Athletic Conference Red Division boys basketball victory Friday night.

The Bobcats (3-0, 2-0 BCS Red) led big early, taking a 22-12 lead after one quarter.

The Bees (3-1, 1-1 BCS Red), rallied to tie the score at 32-32 at halftime by outscoring Brandywine 20-10 in the second quarter.

The Bobcats reclaimed the lead in the third quarter and led 53-48 heading to the fourth.

Again Bridgman rallied and tied the score at 74-74 as the two teams combined for 47 points in the high scoring affair.

The Bobcats scored the first seven points in the extra session and then hit 7-of-16 free throws in overtime to hold off the Bees, who were 0-for-10 from the field.

Vinny Peel poured in 22 points to lead Brandywine, which also got 20 points from Austin Knapp, 16 points from Hunter Slaughter and 13 points from Chandler Plew.

Nick Knowlton, who scored 17 points in the fourth quarter and overtime, finished with a game-high 36 points to lead the Bees.

Ryan Chang finished with 10.
