NEW BUFFALO — Visiting Cassopolis held on for a 3-2 BCS Athletic Conference volleyball victory over New Buffalo Wednesday night.

The Rangers defeated the Bison 25-22, 24-26, 25-23, 20-25 and 15-9.

Jami Suseland had nine kills and a solo block for Cassopolis, which also got eight kills, four block assists and a solo block.

Kaylyn Forrest finished with 28 assists, five kills, five digs and three block assists.

“Today I felt like we did not play to our full potential,” Cassopolis coach Demi Schrader said. “This game should not have been as close as it was. Our setting and hitting was a little off. We were having a hard time putting balls down on their side and avoiding from their defenders. It seemed like we just couldn’t get all of the ball for a solid attack.

“We eventually had to stop hitting and start tipping to the open spots. Once they started picking up on this, we adjusted and went back to hitting at them. By this time, our shots were starting to fall and we were finally earning points on kills. On a positive note, our defense was amazing! We were digging up balls and covering our hitters well. We also did a great job for the most part on serve receive. There was only a few times where our passers struggled, but we were able to fix it and pull out of it.”
