Edwardsburg man killed in bike vs. car crash

A 70-year-old man was killed while riding a bicycle in Cass County Sunday, according to the Michigan State Police Department.

Daniel Bice, of Edwardsburg, was traveling eastbound on Union Road at approximately 1:49 p.m. when a vehicle driven by Juana Davila, 24, of Union collided with him, according to the release.

Emergency personnel were called to the scene, but efforts to revive the cyclist were unsuccessful, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Advanced accident investigators from the Michigan State Police were called to the scene to investigate further.

Alcohol does not appear to be a factor, the occupants of the vehicle were all wearing their seatbelts and the bicyclist was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.

The Michigan State Police were asssisted on scene by the Cass County Sheriff’s Deparment, Porter Fire and Ambulance and Edwardsburg Ambulance.
