From 140 to 189 pounds, Buchanan’s wrestling team took control of Wednesday’s BCS Athletic Conference match against Brandywine.

The Bucks totaled 33 points in those weight classes and went on to beat their arch-rival, 39-26.

“My 152 (Sam Burge) and 171-pounder (Ryan Gluchowski) were injured from last weekend,” Brandywine wrestling coach Rex Pomranka said. “They were dinged up a little bit and instead of pushing them we were going to rest them. We also gave up points not having weight classes.”

The Bucks, who trailed 11-0 going into the 140-pound match, got pins from Colin Wheetley (140), Jacob Graham (145), Jordan Brown (152), a win from River Fox (160) and forfeit wins from Austin Hartz (171) and Wes Springer-Grounds (189).

Brandywine’s lone pin came from 112-pounder Michael Kachur.

“We got momentum back there at the end,” Pomranka said. “We bumped up our 103 (Kachur) up to 112 and we upset their kid there. It was a good match for my kid.”

The best match came at the start where Brandywine 125-pounder Kaci Lintz edged Buchanan’s Matt Strozewski, 7-5, in overtime. Lintz recorded a takedown with :35 left in overtime.

Brandywine also got a technical fall win from 130-pounder Jesse Lochmondy and wins from Ryan Buchar (135), Charlie Rodriguez (215) and Jordan Stockdale (119).

“We were right there,” Pomranka said. “We just made some young mistakes. We had some upsets and they had some upsets.

“It’s a crosstown rivalry. We always have good matches no matter who’s stronger and who’s weaker. It was an exciting high school match. The crowd was loud. I don’t the official could even hear the whistle. It was just a great high school dual meet. It was fun.”

In its other dual match, Brandywine rolled past River Valley, 54-18.

Recording pins for the Bobcats were Lochmondy (130), Corbin Eckenberger (145), Kristian Hertsell (160), Rodriguez (215), Aaron Casto (285) and Lintz (125).
