Meet the contestants: Allyson Wild

The newest member of Dowagiac’s royal sisterhood will be crowned later this month, as the Miss Dowagiac Scholarship Pageant hosts its 76th ceremony on Jan. 24.

Over the next several weeks, the Dowagiac Daily News will feature the profiles of the 12 ladies vying for the crown.

This year’s pageant will begin at 7 p.m. inside the Dowagiac Middle School Performing Arts Center.

Tickets for the event are available inside the office of the Greater Dowagiac Chamber of Commerce, inside the Dowagiac train depot.

School Attending: Dowagiac Union High School

Grade: 12th

School Activities: Choir, Golf, Band, Educational Talent Search, Chieftain Heart, Rotary Interact, Business Professionals of America, National Technical Honor Society.

Outside Activities: 4-H, Working at Little Ceasers and Aeropostale.

Interests and hobbies: Music, Dancing, Golf, Raising and Showing Animals for the Cass County Fair, Shopping with my mother, and going to Notre Dame games with my father. GO IRISH!

Awards and honors: Several Best of Show, Bravo, and Specie awards in 4-H projects at Cass County Fair, Outstanding student for my Jazz class one year while attending Encore School Of the Arts for 10 years.

What are my ambitions and plans after graduation? My ambitions and plans after graduation are to attend SMC for an associate’s degree in business and continue with a Bachelors degree in Business or Hospitality Management at either Western Michigan University or Ferris State University.

What are your greatest accomplishment(s)? My greatest accomplishments are; being part of the DUHS Choir and qualifying for the state festival, being awarded Champion Rate-Of-Gain 2 years in a row with my beef steers, and controlling a 1,400 lb. beef steer in the show arena at the Cass County Fair,

Why did you decide to compete for the title of Miss Dowagiac? I decided to compete for the title of Miss Dowagiac 2015 because I would love to have the chance to represent my hometown of Dowagiac and to gain experience and to challenge myself personally.
