Tuesday, Jan. 13

• 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. — The Connection

This program of Emergency Shelter Services is a one-stop shop for help when housing is threatened or just for referrals and information.

• 5 p.m. — Writing Group

This group is chance for passionate writers to come and share their work with other passionate writers. Anyone who attends will have the opportunity to have others read their writing and receive constructive criticism and tips.

• 6:30 p.m. — Fiction For Foodies potluck book club

Sign up at the information desk. Read the book, bring food inspired by it, and join in to eat and discuss monthly on the second Tuesday of every month.

 

Thursday, Jan. 15

• 1 to 4 p.m. — American Mahjong

Everyone is welcome to this weekly game, and volunteers are ready to teach people how to play.

• 5 to 7 p.m. — Teen Movie Night

Join us for a movie and popcorn matinee. This month we are watching “Enchanted.”

• 5:30 p.m. — Brandywine Elementary School Art Reception

• 6:30 p.m. — Securing Change: Understanding your SSA and 401K statements

This time of year the mailbox is filling up with statements. Our reference librarian has found some great online resources to help understand what people are looking at.

 

Friday, Jan. 16

•10 a.m. to 4 p.m. — emPower Heat and Energy Assistance Enrollment

TrueNorth personnel will be available to assist with filling out the emPower application for heat and energy assistance for electric, natural gas, propane, wood, pellets, coal, fuel oil, other deliverable fuels and existing balances.

•10 a.m. to noon — Special Edition Club: Storytime and Craft Day

The Morning Club has a new name. Starting in February it will be offering afternoon meeting times as well, so a change was necessary. It will still be a fun time of guests, storytimes, movies, crafts, music, fitness fun with the YMCA and lots more. All ages, skills and interests (including special needs adults and their families) are welcome.

•5 to 7 p.m. — Iron Chef Teens

Creativity is a must in this cooking event. Participants will be given ingredients and then they will assemble a dish. A panel of judges will award points for creativity and tastiness. This event is for teens ages 13-19. Registration for this event can be done by calling the Youth Services Department at 683-8545 ext. 106 or by stopping by the desk.

• 6 p.m. — Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA) practice

Everyone is welcome to bring their handwork or just come see others making cool things, and watch the sword fighting practice. Everyone is welcome and no special costumes are needed.

 

Saturday, Jan. 17

• 10 a.m. — Chess Club

All ages and skills are welcome.
