Three people were injured following a traffic accident in Howard Township Friday afternoon, according to officials with the Cass County Sheriff’s Office.

According to authorities, 45-year-old Tina Young, of Niles, was traveling eastbound on Almaugus Drive when she failed to yield an oncoming vehicle, operated by 85-year-old Frederick Albert, also of Niles, near Huntly Road. The collision sent Albert’s vehicle off the roadway, overturning and crashing into a parked vehicle in the process.

Deputies with the sheriff’s office responded to the accident call at around 3:27 p.m. Responders with SMACS Ambulance transported Young, her teenage passenger, and Albert to Memorial Hospital for treatment.

All parties were wearing seatbelts at the time of accident, and alcohol is not believe to have been a factor in the crash. The sheriff’s office is continuing to investigate the incident.

Also assisting at the scene were crews with the Howard Township Fire Department.
