Many friends appreciate some help with the crafts.

• 1 p.m. — Renaisscience: Lucet Cord (ancient braiding)

Berrien County Fiber Guild will present “Lucet Cord,” a method of braiding a single string or yarn to make a strong, decorative cord. This method was used during the Renaissance and earlier to make strong cords for lacing and others for decorative use. You will learn how to make a simple bracelet and see examples of many variations you can make after learning the basics. All materials and supplies will be provided. Registration requested.

• 4 p.m. — Gaming

Lots of games to choose from. Bring your deck, or build up a character for one of the RPGs.

• 6 p.m. — Ye Olde Movie Double-Header

Every Wednesday night during the summer the library will be showing a classic movie in keeping with the “Renaissance” theme. This week visitors can watch the 1985 cult classic “Ladyhawke” at 4 p.m. At 6 p.m. organizers chose a selection from the documentary “DaVinci & the Mysteries of the Renaissance,” a collection of presentations detailing events from the lives of Leonardo Da Vinci, Copernicus, Galileo, Martin Luther, Michelangelo, Machiavelli and many others.

Saturday

• 2 p.m. — The Coalition

Do you crave meaningful discourse? The Coalition is a just-formed group of local citizens that each want to listen and be heard on tough social issues. You’ve probably had topics come to mind that you wanted to be able to discuss in a meaningful, non-hostile way. Every Saturday at two they’ll gather at the library to do just that. Come be part of the conversation.

• 6-8 p.m. — Audible Art Afterhours

Niles District Library invites you to “Make Some Noise!” To celebrate our new community space, we’re having a monthly after-hours open stage night through the summer. There will be some basic sound equipment available, but acoustic music sounds great in the Rotunda! Appreciative audiences are needed, too. Covered non-alcoholic beverages are welcome, and we’ll have plenty of free coffee and soda available. Come through the south rotunda door for afterhours admittance.
