Eddies eliminated by Vicksburg

OTSEGO — The Edwardsburg softball team was eliminated from the Wolverine Conference Tournament by Vicksburg Saturday afternoon.

The Eddies reached the semifinals by defeating Comstock 4-3 in its opening game of the tournament.

Edwardsburg (21-6) then lost to the Bulldogs 13-6 in the semifinals.

Coloma won the league championship with an 11-2 win over Vicksburg.

In the semifinals, the Bulldogs scored three runs in the second, third and fourth innings and two runs in the first and fifth innings to account for their 13 runs.

The Eddies scored three runs in the first, a run in the fifth and two in the seventh.

Ali Strycker took the loss in relief for Edwardsburg.

The Eddies outhit Vicksburg 12-8 with Kaylee Ryker picking up three of those hits and driving in two runs. Layne Stinnett, Teryn Williams, McKenzie Creed and Paige Freshour all had two hits. Stinnett singled and homered for the Eddies.

Against Comstock, Creed had two of Edwardsburg’s sixth hits.
