Mosaic Frame Workshop

Saturday, Feb. 1, noon–2:30 p.m.

Martha Branson-Banks returns to teach this class on embellishing a mirror or picture frame. Bring a selection of glass, broken plates, jewelry, buttons, or other fun items to make your creation special. Materials list is provided upon registration. Cost is $30 or $24 for members. Register by Jan. 28.

Fernwood Photography Club

Sunday, Feb. 2, 2 p.m.

The Fernwood Photography Club is open to all ages and levels of experience. The group is non-competitive and low-key with a focus on fun. Each meeting combines a one-hour indoor meeting followed by an outdoor photo shoot. There is no charge for club participation, although Fernwood membership or admission fee is required. Groundhog Day Snowshoe Hike

Sunday, Feb. 2, 1–2:30 p.m.

Get out of the den and look for your shadow on a snowshoe hike. Look for signs of winter life in Fernwood’s nature preserve. Bring your own snowshoes and bundle up for a beautiful hike. Cost is $10 or $8 for members.

 

Winter Yoga

Thursdays through Feb. 27, 12:15–1:30 p.m.

Feeling sluggish after the holidays? Get going with yoga at Fernwood on Thursdays during January and February with Greta Hurst. Yoga helps improve health, heal aches and pains, and keep sickness at bay. It is a great way to start the year off right. Walk-ins are welcome. Cost is $10 or $8 for members.

 

Winter Walk Wednesdays

Experience the magic of Fernwood in winter and join us for Winter Walk Wednesdays. Fernwood members can earn up to an additional 12 percent off purchases from the Fernwood Gift Shop each Wednesday in January and February. Every 15 minutes spent enjoying the gardens and grounds earns an additional 3 percent discount for a possible total of 12 percent. Sign in at the front desk before your walk.

 

Most Decadent Chocolate Dessert Contest Announced

Saturday, Feb. 8, 1–4 p.m.

Do you make a heavenly chocolate dessert? Enter Fernwood’s Most Decadent Chocolate Dessert in Southwest Michigan contest. Join us as we celebrate one of nature’s most sumptuous and sinful treats — chocolate! Drop by to learn about the history and origin of cocoa, see a cocoa tree and bean, sample different kinds of chocolate, and make a treat at the chocolate fountain. Free with paid Fernwood admission. To enter our contest, bring your dessert and recipe to Fernwood by Friday, Feb. 7, to be judged by Chef Tim Carrigan.

 

Valentine’s Day Dinner at Fernwood

Friday, Feb. 14, 6–8 p.m.

Enjoy Valentine dinner with your sweetheart at Fernwood. Chef Tim presents a choice of entrees and desserts, topped off with champagne and a rose for each couple. Admission is $90 per couple. Register by Feb. 5.

Fernwood’s hours are Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday noon to 5 p.m. The Fernwood Cafe winter hours are Wednesday through Saturday, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., and Sunday noon to 2 p.m. Fernwood is closed on Mondays.
