The Brandywine boys cross country team finished second at the Dowagiac Rotary Invitational Friday.

Sturgis won the boys portion of the invitational with seven points. Brandywine was second with 22 and Plainwell third with 23.

The Bobcats’ Michael Robbins was second in the junior-senior race with a time of 17:56. Grant Brown of Sturgis was the overall winner with a time of 17:11.

James Harrell was third for Brandywine in the freshmen-sophomore race with a time of 19:04.

Dowagiac finished seventh in the boys race. Its top finisher was DeYonte Sullivan, who was ninth in the freshmen-sophomore race with a time of 21:30.

Plainwell won the girls race with eight points. Mendon was second with 19.

Dowagiac was fifth with 38 points. Brandywine did not have enough runners to post a girls score.

Dowagiac’s top finisher was Jackie Hurle, who finished 16th in the freshmen-sophomore race with at time of 29:01. Brandywine’s top finisher was Alexis Garcia, who was 13th in the same race with a time of 27:11.
