KALAMAZOO — The Edwardsburg volleyball team captured the Kalamazoo Hackett Invitational Saturday.

The Eddies went 3-3 in pool play and then defeated Watervliet, Brandywine and Gobles to claim the championship.

In the quarterfinals, Edwardsburg toppled the Panthers 25-17 and 25-13. In the semifinals, the Bobcats fell to the Eddies 25-15 and 26-24.

In the title match, Edwardsburg defeated the Tigers 27-25, 25-27 and 15-12.

Cassopolis Invitational

CASSOPOLIS — Host Cassopolis reached the semifinals of its own invitational before bowing out Saturday.

The Rangers finished second in the White Pool, which included New Buffalo and Eau Claire.

Michigan Lutheran captured the Blue Pool, which also had River Valey and Climax-Scotts.

In the quarterfinals, River Valley defeated Eau Claire and Cassopolis defeated Climax-Scotts.

New Buffalo knocked off River Valley in the Blue Pool semifinal, while Michigan Lutheran defeated Cassopolis in the White Pool semifinal.

New Buffalo went on to defeat Michigan Lutheran to claim the tournament championship.
