Cassopolis High School had 90 graduates and six GED receipients take part in the 134th annual commencement ceremony at Ross Beatty Jr.-Sr. High School Sunday afternoon.

Senior Celia Ash welcomed a full gymnasium and gave the invocation before senior Molly Moroz gave the reflective speech and senior Josh Green gave the motivational speech.

The alumni speaker for the commencement ceremony was 1975 graduate Darlene Anderson, who was in the final class to graduate from the old Cassopolis High School. She was introduced by senior Hannah Deubner.

Before the awarding of diplomas, Julie Herwick, senior class advisor, announced the Top 10 students for 2013.

They were Deubner, Moroz, Green, Tyler Prestly, Ash, Alexis Peters, Michael Dussel, Jessica Waldschmidt, Mary Green and Valerie Adams.

Herwick also announced that the Class of 2013 had 28 members receive scholarships totaling more than $776,000.

After Superintendent Tracy Hertsel, School Board President Scott Ward and the rest of the school board then certified the completion of the graduation requirements, Principal Bob Sieko awarded the diplomas.
