It was night and day for the Brandywine baseball team against Centreville Wednesday.

The Bobcats lost the first game 11-1 in five innings, but won the nightcap to the Bulldogs 11-1 in five innings.

In the second game, Brandywine jumped out to an early lead on Centreville and never looked back.

With seven runs in the first three innings, the Bobcats left no doubt about the eventual outcome.

A two-run single by Kyle Duncan, an RBI single by Cole Searles and a walk by Alec Nichols during the first inning helped account for four runs, while an error, a groundout by Tanner Bourdon and an RBI single by Brock Hartline led to a three-run second inning for the Bobcats.

Mike Pancoast went a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate for Brandywine. He singled in the second, fourth and fifth innings.

Hartline struck out three, paving the way for the win. Hartline allowed one earned run on four hits and no walks over five innings.

It was a different story in the opener.

After a pair of scoreless innings, Centreville erupted for two, four and five runs over the final three innings.

Brandywine, meanwhile, managed only a run in the fourth inning as Searles lifted a sacrifice fly to score Duncan.
